The legacy of the Max Pittion eyewear legend lives on.
Tommy O'Gara of "The Light Co"-working in collaboration with Max's son, Bernard Pittion-was entrusted with the brand's rebirth. Expert craftsmen and technicians from parent company The Light Co. in Japan honor and evolve its product offering. Pittion's legendary creations are still handcrafted from plant-based cellulose acetate, using original equipment and responsible production techniques. This next chapter is inspired by Max's passion and energized by Tommy's creative vision.
transformed his father's comb-making business into one of the world's leading eyewear producers: Pittion Lunetterie. Pittion produced frames for Parisian fashion houses Lanvin and Azzaro, among many others, and in 1967, Max founded the Salon International de la Lunetterie, SILMO, which continues to be the world's most prestigious and well-attended eyewear show.
The worldwide launch of this limited series is scheduled for January 2023, and will be available as a collection from a limited selection of opticians. The glasses will be offered in four shapes and five colors.
Max's bold, elegant creations were known for being meticulously crafted in rich, delicate hues: their unique color palette pushed the boundaries of the highest quality materials with innovative processes. Its most iconic frame, the Politician, graced the faces of artists, trendsetters and Hollywood stars. At the height of their popularity in the 60s and 70s, these elegant models have retained their cult status.
Max Pittion was a visionary who grew up in Oyonnax, a town at the foot of the French Alps. At the turn of the 20th century, Oyonnax was known for its combs made from wood, cow horn and, eventually, celluloid.
